Annotation The article analyzes public sentiments regarding the assessment of the police institute activities as a subdivision of the internal affairs agencies based on the case of Kemerovo Region. The study was conducted involving a wide range of sources – regulatory documents, official statistics, results of regional studies in the activities of the internal affairs agencies, as well as the data obtained as a result of studies in municipal units of Kemerovo Region. It was found that most of the surveys to identify public sentiments regarding internal affairs officers were conducted in the regions of the Central and Volga Federal Districts with almost complete lack of systematic work to study this issue in the regions of the Siberian Federal District, particularly, in Kemerovo Region. At the same time, the author notes that the need to study the public sentiment of Kemerovo Region’s population in relation to internal affairs agencies is growing, which is evidenced by the crime and delinquency rates. Despite the existence of certain problems identified in this study, positive trends in the work of police officers in Kemerovo Region cannot be denied. Such positive signs include the prevalence of positive assessments by the population regarding the protection of personal and property security, positive dynamics in the use of technical means, a rather high level of positive feedback among the population on the increase in response speed of field services. At the same time, one cannot ignore the problem of the extremely low satisfaction of citizens with the results of appeals to the police, which is quite essential for the law enforcement. A study in Kemerovo Region as a whole showed positive trends in the work of police officers, which can be associated not only with the adoption of the Federal Law on Police in 2011, in particular, but also directly with the results of the daily work of the subdivision’s staff to ensure the safety of citizens. The resulting recommendations include the need for further sociological research to assess the results of police activities. Besides, it is desirable that the results be taken into account in the work of the Public Council at the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kemerovo Region and in the daily work of the staff internal affairs agencies.
