Annotation This article was carried out in the framework of the PhD research on the topic “Structural features of the BRICS countries trans-regional partnership and its potential in the system of global governance” realized at the department of Oriental Studies of MGIMO University. When analyzing the potential of the BRICS partnership in the system of global governance, the author notes that the BRICS countries take as their political and economic longterm strategy the fact that the world economic system is currently in deep crisis. The BRICS countries, in turn, are in favor of creating a more harmonious system of global governance. In the article, the author examines the potential of each BRICS member country in terms of their ability to maintain effective and mutually beneficial cooperation, which the countries of this alliance can rely on in the process of realizing the potential of this association in the system of global governance. Thus, the author notes that China’s participation in the BRICS is of importance to the country for the gradual implementation of global political strategies. Despite India’s low activity in BRICS, this country shares most of the common BRICS concepts, including those related to the reform of the existing global governance system. For Brazil and South Africa, BRICS membership is also important, as both countries seek to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The author notes that both countries are also in favor of reforming the existing system of global governance. For Russia, the participation in the BRICS provides an additional opportunity to discuss problems of the global governance, as well as to work more closely with developing countries to modernize the Russian economy
