Annotation This article is the logical extension of the author’s study, published in the «Transbaikal State University Journal» in 2016, which includes the analysis of production, export and import of wood and woodwares both in the Russian Federation and some of its regions, based on the data of the Federal Forestry Agency, Federal State Statistic Service, Federal Customs Service for the period of 2009—2016 years. It is noted that a steady growth of wood procurement in Russia and its main forest regions and a decrease in volumes of export of unprocessed timber is a positive trend in the development of Russian timber industry in the author’s opinion. The analysis of production, export and import of pulp and paper products in the Russian Federation and some regions of Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts was carried out and some conclusions and proposals, concerning the possible ways of further development of timber industry in the considered regions were made. In particular, it was marked that the development of wood procurement industry in the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts, including production of cellulose, attract attention of both Russian and foreign investors. However, in order to create favorable conditions for the enticing of potential investors and contribute to the development of business in wood industry, it is necessary to reindustrialize this sector of economy, as the problem of increase in budget of social efficiency of wood exploration can be solved only on its base. Moreover, reindustrialization along with the increase in government control under the observance of lawfulness will contribute to the development of green economy
