Annotation This article analyzes the concept of «political culture» in political science. The author has formulated the goal, which is the generalization of different approaches to the definition of political culture. The task is to review existing definitions of political culture and comparison of concepts of foreign and domestic scientists. Five approaches to the definition of the term «political culture» are formulated in this article. The first approach consists of classical notions of political culture by G. Almond and S. Verba. They define this phenomenon as a set of aspects (cognitive, emotional, evaluative), as well as the perception and understanding of the apparent policy accordingly. The basis of the second approach is defined by the classification of E. Wiatr, who focuses on the political behavior as a key part of the political culture. In turn, S. Huntington points out the dependence of changes in behavior and mentality as the constituent elements of political culture of different changes: social, economic, social, political, informational, technological and other. In the framework of the third approach, the typology by A. S. Panarin is considered, which presents political culture as a set of three time components — past, present and future. The fourth approach is based on the definitions given by K. A. Vorobiev, K. S. Gadzhiev, A. L. Gorelov, A. G. Gryaznova, who pay attention to the diversity of political culture. Based on the studies the Russian scientists have isolated the fifth approach. M. A. Akmalova, N. A. Baranov, V. L. Bozadzhiev, L. F. Usikova, O. N. Fomin note the internal structure of political culture, which is formed by political knowledge, values, orientation, behavior patterns, attitudes, orientations, beliefs, feelings and experiences. It is concluded that political culture is an ambiguous phenomenon, as it has dozens of interpretations, which confirm the complexity of its theoretical understanding and perception. The author has noted a subjective position of foreign and domestic researchers in the definition of political culture. The presence of the constituent components of political culture, formulated by the classics of political science G. Almond and S. Verba, in most existing definitions of this phenomenon is emphasized
