Oveshnikov Yuri Mikhailovich 

Head of the Department of OGR, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Full Member (Academician) of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety Sciences.

Graduated from the Irkutsk Polytechnic Institute, graduate school at the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute, Leningrad Mining Institute, and the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation. He worked in the Arctic at the Deputatsky Mining and Processing Plant, at the Abagaituysky State Enterprise, at the Chita Mining College and, since 1975, at the Chita Polytechnic Institute. He is a highly qualified specialist, along with training mining engineers, he is constantly engaged in strengthening and replenishing the material and technical base of the mining institute.

More than 150 articles have been published, co-author of a major collective monograph of all-Union significance “Engineering Geology of the USSR”, has 11 copyright certificates and patents, more than a dozen educational and methodological instructions, including 3 textbooks with the stamp of the Educational Institution of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Russian Federation. In 1998 he was awarded the title “Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation”, in 2006 he was awarded the honorary sign of MANEB “For Merit in Ecology” and a state award – the medal of the Order “For Merit to Fatherland, II degree”, a labor veteran.

He developed methods for determining the volume of reclamation of disturbed lands during dredging and hydromechanized mining, created a comprehensive method for assessing the impact of mining enterprises on the main components of the natural environment, a method for predicting changes in the components of the natural environment in open-pit mining and determining their future parameters.

He is a member of the environmental assessment council at the Main Directorate of Natural Resources for the Chita Region, scientific secretary of the Transbaikal branch of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety Sciences. Member of two dissertation councils for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations at Chita State University. Under his leadership, 6 candidates of technical sciences and 2 doctors of technical sciences were graduated, 5 graduate students are successfully studying.
