Annotation The article has raised the most important problem for our country of the religious conflict of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Patriarchy of Constantinople. The reasons for the split of Orthodoxy, which the author sees in religious extremism that has arisen in the context of escalating tensions in the modern geopolitical context, are considered. The prospects for a split of the world Orthodox Church are analyzed. It has been established that in the modern world the only obstacle to world domination for the West is the Russian Orthodox Church – the most powerful and numerous Orthodox Church in the world. Moscow has become the main bearer of Orthodoxy. This was the reason for the split in the Orthodox Church in 2018, and the idea of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, supported by Constantinople, at the request of the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko and the special services of the United States, became a pretext. It is revealed that the modern split of the Orthodox Church occurs with the help of political support from the USA and Western countries, which are trying to create a “new Orthodoxy” with the center in Constantinople, distancing it as far as possible from Moscow. According to the US, all Orthodox countries need to push away from Russia. It is shown that, thus, a favorable environment is created for the expansion of the influence of Constantinople, which would become an overseer of the Orthodox churches in NATO and the European Union. It is concluded that the actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which announced the granting of autocephaly to the non-canonical church in Ukraine, are “an order for the destruction” of the unity of world Orthodoxy. The article proved the necessity of developing ideological values for the implementation of prevention and counteraction to social deviations, and also revealed the real possibilities of mobilizing the potential of the moral and humanistic values of Christianity
