The paper presents the results of empirical research in the field of a new aspect of the “strategy-as-practice” research. Despite the relatively long period of existence of the theory of strategic management, practical interpretation of the concept of “strategy” by business agents is much more diverse. It does not fit into the proposed classification today. This gave rise to a new direction in institutionalism – not to try to group a vision of strategies according to existing criteria, but to open a new line of research. This makes it possible to detect the dependence of the vision of the strategy not only on the size of the business, but also on the leadership style of its leader. Through in-depth interviews, approaches to strategy were identified within such styles as authoritarian, democratic and liberal among small business property managers (co-founders) in various activities – trade, construction, manufacturing, transport, personalized services. Both common features (the need for a strategy due to changes in the external environment) and differences (strategy goals, development methods, employee participation, level of openness for partners) are identified |
