| Annotation |
The effectiveness of the cluster approach to the development of the economy of the border region, which in the context of globalization plays a huge role for the country in the field of international cooperation, is considered. A comparative analysis is given of the response of various economic areas to the cluster alliance in the territories of the internal and border regions. The main advantages that the foreign region receives in the implementation of the cluster concept of economic development are identified: strengthening the economic position of the border area, which allows to increase the investment attractiveness; contributing to the aspirations of the region for the development of cross-border cooperation; promoting innovative development in the border region; a real perspective on the formation of a single cross-border cluster based on clusters from the border area of neighboring countries.
It is concluded that federal and more regional authorities should take a thorough approach to the development of regional development strategies through a cluster approach. This should take into account the exceptional features not only of the frontier subjects, but the individual characteristics of the immediate neighboring countries with which the Russian border is connected. This is justified by the fact that any international relations established in the zone of the frontier region are peculiar to their nature and, accordingly, the course of their development. It was noted that taking into account such aspects as the specialization of the neighboring state, the historical relationship between the parties and a number of other features, will allow the border entity of Russia to develop the most effective strategic line of cluster development
