Annotation The subject of the research is the plant growing in the Krasnodar region as an important direction of agriculture. The theme of the article is due to the need to study a set of factors to ensure the competitiveness of the industry in the region, including the basis of natural and climatic conditions. The purpose of the article is to identify the role of climatic conditions in the complex of factors that positively affect the competitiveness of agriculture of the region and crop production as one of its leading industries. The policy of import substitution in Russia contributed to the achievement of high results in agriculture, identifying the leading regions, which include the Krasnodar region and the Rostov region. Despite the steady growth of the industry, the problem of competitiveness continues to be relevant, connected with several aspects. The first is to maintain the high quality of products, focused not only on domestic consumption but also on exports. Another aspect is the modernization of the agro-industrial complex and agriculture, which will increase the commercial efficiency and profitability of manufacturing enterprises, will contribute to the growth of employment and income of personnel engaged in this field. Attention should be paid to the qualitative and quantitative factors of the industry, such as technologies in crop and livestock production. The results of the study consist in the analysis of statistical data on the development of agriculture in the Krasnodar region, identifying its leading position and the main factors of influence on the strengthening of market positions. Comparative data on investments in crop and livestock production are given; specific conditions for the improvement of the fertility of land, in particular, composition of fertilizers, frequency of their use are examined. The problem of arable land development is associated with the natural and climatic features of the region, growth of exports and domestic consumption of individual plants, specifics of consumer demand. Increase of competitiveness of branch of plant growing of regions with the leading position in the field of agriculture to which Krasnodar Region belongs, should be based on natural climatic features, fertility of soils, commercial efficiency, new production and administrative technologies
