Annotation The article gives characteristics of religious policy in the Soviet Union in the period after the Great Patriotic War, with the evaluation of its expression at the regional level. This takes into account the distance from the center of the country, and its peripheral position in terms of socio-political and religious processes. The author has characterized the publications on the subject. It is noted that, despite the presence of a certain number of scientific articles and monographs, beyond the scientific interest of the authors some regions of Siberia are left. An example of such areas is Transbaikalia. In the absence of scientific research on the issue the source has become the archival documents. This is the case of the State archive of the Russian Federation, presented as common reports on the state of religious situation in the whole country and for individual regions, in particular, and the reports of the commissioners of the Council for Russian Orthodox Church (ROCh), Council for religious Affairs, then of the Council for religious Affairs under the USSR Council of Ministers (and Council of Ministers of the RSFSR). The author has used both general and special methods and approaches in the analysis of the considered aspects of general and regional socio-political history of the Soviet Union. The result of the work are general comments, attack of the specific findings of the evaluation reflect the religious policy of the Soviet Union in the specific subjects of the Russian Soviet Socialist Republic. The study suggests a general periodization of the religious policy of the Soviet Union with its reflection in the region, are its characteristic features. The main conclusion is a remark on some aspects of the religious policy of the Soviet Union, peculiar to the whole country, which were reflected and in Transbaikalia, and some appeared weakly or not at all evident. As it is noted, further work is needed with sources, which would complete the currently available factual data on the history of religions in the region
