Annotation The basic conditions and factors that contribute to the formation and establishment of international and incountry geoeconomic regions are described in the article. In addition, the classification of the geoeconomic factors of regionalization is suggested. It was found that the formation of geoeconomic regions of Russia in modern conditions is due to the need for effective integration of the Russian economy and its regional economies into the world economy, in order to expand a very limited range of export-oriented industries. At the same time, the fact that the world economy is undergoing an internal transformation it taken into account, gradually changing the development vector from the aggressively promoted concept of «absolute globalism» to the concept of «regionalism». That is the finding of a fragmentation of the global economic space, which, however, does not negate the need for an effective integration of national and regional economic complexes in the world economic system. The development of regional economic systems is advisable to be carried out within the geoeconomic regions, because of the presence in them a certain unity and integrity of geographical, geocultural, geoenvironmental and partly geopolitical spaces. Based on the analysis, the measures to increase the efficiency of territorial economic complex on the example of Baikal region, with the use of geoeconomic approaches are proposed. In particular, more emphasis is made on the development of energy and food potentials of the territory, which should contribute to better positioning of geoeconomic region
