Annotation An analysis of state and functioning of civil society institutions in the conditions of transformation of the system of state control, consolidation of democracy, economic recovery, combating internal and external threats to the Russian statehood was undertaken. It is noted that these factors resulted in specific domestic social organizations from the traditional political institutions of Western Europe and the United States, left an imprint on the character of the whole political activity of Russian citizens. It is established that when examining the impact of civil society institutions for sustainable political development of the country, it is necessary to consider the role of the state, which currently defines the goals and objectives of civil society, scope of activities, competences. If the public accepts the “rules of the game” and is ready for a constructive dialogue with the government, public bodies receive comprehensive assistance, as well as the opportunity to participate in the elaboration and political decision-making. The process of decentralization of public authorities in any way should not harm the interests of the state, society and the individual. The author considers the shifting relations of public institutions and authorities in the plane of the political perspective is able to give it concreteness, dynamism, practical. The result of the undertaken analysis is the conclusion that the institutions of civil society in the Russian Federation have a wide potential for further evolution and spread of its influence on political processes in the country
