Annotation For the first time, the status of the Titovskaya hill massif in Transbaikalia is discussed as a paleovolcanic building, which attracts attention for its features of the structural-morphological, geomorphological and archaeological plan. Erroneous ideas that exist in numerous publications are shown, including reference ones interpreting the Titovsky massif as a paleovolcano. It is even proposed to introduce Volcano Day in Chita and celebrate it annually. Indeed, the Titovskaya hill mountain structure is composed of numerous volcanic rocks (lavas of basalt, metatrachites, clustolava, less often tuffs and traces of the flow of lavas). There are also intrusive formations in the form of ducks and rods composed of rocks of the granitoid series and porphyry syenite. However, volcanites, according to the results of geological surveys, are Perm-Triassic accumulations of the Tamir Tsagan-Hunteian retinue and owe volcanism that took place more than 200 million years ago. The massif, as an element of relief, arose no earlier than 1 million years ago in connection with neotectonic processes, outside any connection with volcanism. Neotectonic ledges with a series of diverse-oriented cracks of the rock are clearly fixed along the framing of the massif, especially in its southwestern part. An instrative alluvium is fixed on the slope of the massif, emphasizing the stage of the ascent of the massif. Meanwhile, in Transbaikalia there are other more important and attractive mountain ranges, for example, a watershed mountain called Mount Pallas. It is less noticeable and bears the name of the outstanding Russian encyclopedist scientist Peter-Simon Pallas, who first drew attention, traveling around Transbaikalia, to the presence of a watershed here with streams of rivers carrying their waters to the Pacific (Lena and Yenisei River) and the Arctic Oceans (Amur River and the rivers forming it). This mountain (the only one in the world) should become a center in the development of the national project «Tourism». In Transbaikalia there are real volcanic structures of Neogene-Quaternary time in the Kalar ridge (part of the Vitim volcanic plateau) and representing a kind of exotic, well expressed in relief.
