Annotation As a result of long-term activity of the Krasnoyarsk mining and chemical enterprise (MCE) (Zheleznogorsk), one of the enterprises of the nuclear fuel cycle, the Yenisei River floodplain was significantly contaminated with artificial radionuclides (AR). Since the beginning of 2000-ies an intensive study of the accumulation of long-lived (152Eu, 154Eu, 137Cs, 60Co, 90Sr) and short-lived (141,144Ce, 51Cr, 54Mn, 58Co, 65Zn) isotopes of aquatic plants and animals was conducted. At the same time, the study of coastal zone plants, which are the subject to flooding during floods, has not been carried out sufficiently to date. In this article, on the example of the sedges (Carex L.) the possible contribution of the ground vegetation in the re-migration of gamma-emitting AR from contaminated soils of the Yenisei River floodplain in the near zone of influence of the plant is considered. The nature of accumulation of AR by plants of the coastal zone, depending on the hydrological regime of the river, is studied. The passage of flood pollution (137Cs, 152Eu, 60Co) is associated with fine suspension deposited on the surface of sediment. In the absence of flooding occurs selective accumulation of 137Cs in different parts of the sedge with the increase of its specific contents in a series of “grass litter – old leaves – stems – young leaves – heads”. It was found that 137Cs, accumulated by plants, is actively carried into the aqueous phase during the death of plants as a result of the impact of flood waters. Laboratory experiments have established that during the first day of such exposure 60…70 % of the accumulated 137Cs is carried into the solution, within 19 days – up to 80 %. On the example of one of the islands the quantity of 137Cs, involved annually in secondary transport as a result of vital activity of plants, is estimated
